So I am off to the vet today for a dental. I have a lot of tartar on my teeth that needs to be taken off, and they will do x-rays to make sure my teeth are healthy under all that tartar.
Hopefully things will go more smoothly than the last time they tried to do a dental cleaning on me. When I was under anaesthesia, my temperature started dropping, so they woke me up and warmed me up as a precaution. This time the vet is prepared to have everything pre-warmed for me, and they are going to take some other precautions, so it hopefully won't happen again. Being a petite lady-cat, and not having any fur, I guess I'm susceptible to getting cold easily! Our vet has an excellent plan in place, so we are confident I'll be fine. They have this wonderful warmer that they usually use in the recovery area that they will use to keep me warm.
I always charm everyone at the vet's. We go to a practice where we are seen by both fourth year veterinary students and a full, practicing vet. We Sphynx are always a huge hit with the veterinary students. It's also great that we get lots of attention, so while I'm under for my dental, I'll have lots of monitoring.
Our mom will try to help me update the post when she has new about how things went, which will hopefully be over her lunch hour, or at the very least, at the end of her work day. She'll be busy all day seeing patients herself, but has a break at lunch, when she might have time to quickly make an update.
Update: Devi did great during her dental. She stayed nice and warm with the proactive warming, so there were no issues there. She had a LOT of tartar on her back molars, but otherwise her teeth looked great, so no need for any extractions! Thanks to everyone for their purrs and good thoughts!
