Photo Hunt: Pointed
Pointed
Merlin: This week's theme is perfect for me because I am a Pointed Sphynx! This means that my colouration is similar to that of a Siamese cat - with blue eyes and my extremities darker in colour (tail, ears, nose). My exact colouration is called Seal Point and White. So in addition to my Seal Point colour, I also have white patches throughout.
You can see my points very well on my nose. You can see that it is darker in colour (brown). You can also see the white part of my colouration - I have a small white blaze on my face (on my left, or on the right as you are looking at me) and I have white cheeks! In other photos you can also see the white patches on my chest, my legs and my feet. In the last two photos you can see the white patch on my hindquarters.

Photo Hunt: Bad Hair
Bad Hair
Well, since we Sphynx are hairless cats, we don't ever have bad hair. So, we thought we'd show you what a close up of Sphynx skin looks like. To be precise, we Sphynx aren't literally hairless, we are covered with a very fine down, so that when you pet us, it feels like petting warm chamois, suede or peach. We also have fur on the bridge of our noses, and most Sphynx have hair along the edges of their ears. (Click either photo to view a larger version)

When our humans were in Egypt, they visited Alexandria, where they saw this unique sundial (called an analemmatic disk) in front of the new Library of Alexandria. If you click on the second photo to make it larger, you should be able to read the instructions for this unique method of telling time!

Photo Hunters: Thirteen
Thirteen
This is a photo of our mom and dad approaching the finish line of our mom's first half-marathon. A half-marathon is 13.1 miles (21.1 km). She has since run 7 half-marathons and 2 full marathons (26.2 miles / 42.2 km). Our mom and dad will be running another half-marathon tomorrow!
Today is also our dad's birthday! Happy Birthday Dad! We hope you have a great day! Alles Gute zum Geburtstag! We love you! :)

Photo Hunters: Wooden
Here are some photos of both of us enjoying playing with some of our toys on our wooden floor. The wooden floors in our place are great for playing - lots of toys roll across its surface in a wonderful fashion! You can also see our wooden toy chest in the background, in three of the photos.
(For those of you who have never seen Sphynx before, we are CATS. Sphynx are a breed of hairless cats. We are very friendly, affectionate, outgoing and playful.)

Photo Hunters: Free
Free
We Sphynx are FREE of hair (except on the bridge of our noses!), FREE of hairballs, and FREE of whiskers! However, we are not maintenance-free! We require weekly baths (we groom ourselves like other cats, but the oil that our skin secretes builds up, since we have no fur for the oil to distribute itself through), we need weekly ear cleanings (we have no fur in our ears to absorb the oils and wax), weekly claw trimmings (our claws grow quickly due to our fast Sphynx metabolism that helps keep us warm) and frequent eye cleanings, since we have no eyelashes or eyebrows to protect our eyes.
P.S. It's not nice to call us scary. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. We may not look like "regular" cats, but we are loving, caring, and our humans think we are handsome, adorable and cute! And everyone who meets us in person agrees - we are charming and adorable kitties!

Photo Hunt: Heavy
Heavy
Although we are small cats and don't weigh much (Dragonheart is about 3.65 kg or 8 lbs, and Merlin weighs less than that) our mom says that when we are both sitting on her lap, we become heavy after a while. We're not sure what she means, after all, we don't start to weigh any more when we're sitting on her!
