Hello all! Devi here! So today I have the misfortunate of being the first of us kitties who has to go see a new vet in our new city.
Devi at the hotel |
So, our mom found what looks like a good vet practice in our new city, and I have an appointment this afternoon. Of course, I'm the one of us three who doesn't like visiting the vet the most, and who doesn't like being restrained at all. As I'm a rescue, my mom and dad don't know what happened to me before they adopted me, they just know that, for whatever reason, I do not like being restrained at all.
Our old veterinary practice emailed our files to our new vet, and our mom gave them the old practice's phone number as well, as our regular vet there said she would be happy to talk to our new vet and give them a summary of us and our health conditions. So hopefully they managed to talk.
We will update you all later and let you know how things went. We miss having a world-class veterinary college right down the street. Our old veterinary practice was affiliated with the vet college, and we would be seen there by one vet student as well as an experienced veterinarian. It was also easy to get referrals to the specialists at the veterinary college, and the college was our after hours emergency vet as well. Hopefully our new veterinary practice will be a good one.

Paws crossed that your new vet practice will be of a high standard of care and concern. Äiti says she really understands the worry: when she moved from England she left a most excellent vet practice which was just 200m walk away! Here in Finland she was really worried about the language issue and what the set up might be, so she explored a couple of places before any of the new immigrant Britcats got ill. The first place was just awful and even though it was close to her house she never went back there. She then asked for recommendations from a pet shop, and four ystävämme eläinlääkäri - our friend the vet. And on her first visit there she came home with me!!!!
But back to you Devi - we hope that you are not too stressed by it all and will feel able to do some toy hogging later. We look forward with crossed paws to an update.
Livre do vet por mais um dia!! Isso é legal.
Lamento por seu pai, espero que ele tenha conseguido resolver o problema com o carro.
Reprieves are good. Or are they? It just draws out the misery of waiting, don't you think? Anyway, we hope the vet turns out to be nice.

Enjoy your temporary reprieve, Devi. I hope you get on well with your new vet when you get there.
I am on Prednisalone long term. I take 1mg tablet twice a day but this is because I am unable to take thyroid medication and most other types of medication. It stops my T4 from going sky high and also helps give me an appetite. My mum knows it is not ideal but she had to weigh the pros against the cons. Without the pred it is unlikely I would still be here.
I hope all goes well for you at your new vet, Devi. Y'know, I just recently went through a bout of this myself. I was on pred, but every time I was weaned off of them, my lesions came back. This had never happened to me before. The mom talked with my vet and they thought it would be a good idea to take me to see a vet dermatologist. I saw her last week and she recommended I start taking an antihistimine. I'm also being tested to find out what exactly I'm allergic to and then I may start taking allergy shots to help me. I have to say, I'm doing much better now. My lesions are all gone...but we may still do the allergy shots so that I don't have any more problems in the future. ~Ernie
Good luck with the new vet when you get there!
Normally, we would be happy for a missed Vet appointment,
but as you have medical issues, it is best you see the new Vet.
We purr they will have a better medication for you Devi.
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
We hope your visit goes well when it happens, it should because we think you're purrfect!
I hope you end up liking the new vet and a better solution can be found instead of the meds you have.
It's hard finding a good vet. You lucked out today but I guess you didn't luck out with those lesions returning.
Oh, we're sorry your car broke down! You sound like you are having almost the exact time of it that our Mom and Dad had last weekend! Enjoy that vet reprieve. We hate going to the vet but we know going is to help us stay healthy!
YAY!! Nothing like Vet trips being cancelled! My Mom moved my last one THREE times!! Then, I was supposed to go when Dakota had his dental last week and she cancelled that one too!! Woooo hooo! Love, Cody catchatwithcarenandcody
