Cat Art Sunday: Goebel Cat Figurine

When our humans were in Vienna, they bought this little Goebel cat figurine. They say that although the colours aren't right, the two cats remind them of us.

We aren't quite sure why they think this!

Cats on Tuesday: We Love Our Dad!

Cats on Tuesday As you can see in these photos, we love our dad! We love to climb up on his shoulders! We are both good jumpers, and can jump from the floor onto his shoulder, but of course, when the cat tree is nearby, it makes it easier to climb on our dad. Our dad calls us "parrots" when we climb on his shoulders like this. It's fun! (And yes, for those of you that don't know, our dad is an engineering officer in the Canadian Forces, hence the uniform he's wearing in the photos.)

Easy Like Sunday Morning & Cat Art Sunday

First I want to share the fabulous work of art that Maggy & Zoey created for me! Isn't it fabulous? A Sphynx in front of the pyramids seems appropriate, since the sphinx is normally found there. (Note the difference in spelling: Sphynx refers to the breed of hairless cats, and Sphinx refers to the half-human, half-animal statues found throughout Egypt and in some other parts of the world, like ancient Greece.)

For Easy Like Sunday Morning, here I am, curled up in my fleece blanket on my human mom's lap. Fall is in the air, and so it is cool in the mornings, so I like to snuggle in my mom's lap in my blanket. It warms up through the day though, and I like to lie in the sun when the afternoon sun shines through the windows onto my Gizzy quilt or fleece pad. But in the morning, after I've had a play session, I like to snuggle in my mom's lap.

Finally, I want to wish Skeezix a Very Happy Birthday! :) I hope you have a great day, Skeezix! As we say in German: Alles Gute zum Geburtstag! :)

Cat Art Sunday

Many of you have seen this painting before, but I wanted to share it with those of you who haven't seen it. This is a portrait of the cat who came before me, Whiskers. He was a Seal Point Siamese that my mom received for her 15th birthday. He meant a lot to my mom. Whiskers was a real lap cat, just like me, and loved people. He loved being the centre of attention and had a wonderful, rumbling purr. I never met him, but I think I would have really liked him.

Whiskers went to the Rainbow Bridge (where all pets go to wait for their humans when they die) on September 1, 2006, just two months short of his 20th birthday. In honour of his memory, my mom commissioned this portrait by her very talented friend, Michelle Wiebe.

Painting of Whiskers
Whiskers acquired his name in a simple fashion: When my mom received him for her 15th birthday, he was missing the whiskers on one side of his face from wrestling with his brother. Not a very creative name for a cat, but one that suited him!

My mom still misses Whiskers on occasion. Often when she visit's Latte's blog, there are certain photos of Latte that remind her very much of Whiskers, and she gets teary-eyed. I try to cuddle with her and purr extra loud on these occasions. I know that there will always be a special place in her heart for Whiskers.

Come home AnatasiaMy humans and I are also praying and purring hard for Anatasia to come home safely.
