Birthday Gifts & A Birthday Contest!

Here are some photos of me enjoying two of my birthday gifts: a new tunnel, that is longer than my current one and that has cool side tunnels; and a drinking fountain! I really like both of these!

Scavenger Hunt ContestNow, for the exciting news: my birthday contest is going to be a Scavenger Hunt! Every day for the next week, at random times, I am going to post an item or a list of several items on my blog. If you want to participate in the contest, you need to find the item(s) and post them to your blog at the end of the contest! The items may be tidbits of information or photos I've posted to my blog, they may be tidbits of information you need to find on the web, or they may be something you have to create! (Don't worry, none of the items you need to create will require technical knowledge or photo editing software, unless you choose to use such for creating your item.) At the end of the contest, you need to post all of the items on your blog in one post. The last item to be collected will be posted on my blog on July 25, 2007, and you will have until July 29, 2007 to make your blog post with all the items.

There will be several prizes awarded at the end of the contest. One prize will be for the cat(s) that find the most number of the scavenger hunt items. If more than one cat finds all the items, there will be a draw to determine the winner. There will also be a prize for the most creative entry, as determined by myself and my humans. As I mentioned, some of the items will be something that you have to create, and so the creativity of these items, as well as the creativity shown in putting together the final post with all the items, will be judged. There will also be a random prize that will be determined by placing the names of all the contestants into a hat, and one name will be drawn at random. Other prizes may be awarded, depending on the number of entries, at the judges' discretion. If you do not wish to receive a prize (for example, if you do not want to provide me with your snail mail address) I will make a donation, whose value is equal to that of the prize, to the charity of your choice.

This contest is open to all cats with a blog.

I reserve the right to change the rules of the contest at any time.

If you have any questions about the contest, please feel free to ask!

Today's item is the one that will require the most amount of effort and time, which is why I'm posting it first.

The Sphynx breed was so-named because we hairless cats reminded a cat show judge of cat statues he had seen in Egypt. What do you think of when you her the word "Sphynx"? Create an item that reflects this interpretation. It can be a poem (limerick, Haiku, or other form), a photo/image/graphic (just make sure you have permission to use it), a song, or any other creative art form. (Feel free to make a separate post for this item on your blog, and simply provide a link to it, if you wish, in your final post with all the items.)

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes and gifts I have received so far. All the cats who have posted birthday greetings on their blog, or sent me email greetings, have been listed in the post below this one. Thank you all again! You are all wonderful friends.

Outdoor Adventure

This weekend the weather has been hot, humid, and sunny here in Munich. With the weather so beautiful, I was meowing to be let outside. So my humans put on my harness and took me out into our small Garten (yard). Since it was very hot and sunny, they put my tent outside so I would have some shade.

Frootbat Friday & Awards

This is my last Frootbat Friday as a kitten, although I still feel like a kitten. I love to romp and play and have lots of fun.

Dragonheart(Click photo for a larger image)

My dear friends Princess and Caesar presented me with the Blogging Community Involvement Award. Thank you very much Caesar and Prinnie! I am honoured!

Blogging Community Involvement AwardSo what is "the power of schmooze?"
“As it goes, schmoozing is the natural ability 'to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.' Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello - all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship."

Each recipient is to post the badge on their site with a link to their post and bestow the award upon five other bloggers. There are so many wonderful bloggers out there, that this is a hard decision to make. Here are my choices:
  • Kattonic Cats: Zippy, Sadie and Speedy: They are three wonderful cats who are always visiting other blogs and leaving nice comments.
  • Miss Peach: Miss Peach is a real lady and always has a kind and caring message for those she visits.
  • Kaze: A fellow Frootbat, Kaze always has a kind word for others. She's also the only cat I know who likes playing even more than I do!

I was also presented with the Caring Cat Blogger Award! This award is for cats who demonstrate caring and compassion for others. I am very touched and honoured to receive this award.

Caring Cat BloggerI would like to present this award in turn to Caesar and Princess. These two Cornish Rex kitties are very kind and caring, and always have something thoughtful to say. They are wonderful friends and their posts and comments are always a delight to read. Although they are both dealing with CRF, they are still positive cats, with a wonderful outlook on life. I am very honoured to have them as friends.

Finally, don't forget that Weekend Cat Blogging is here this weekend! Check out my Weekend Cat Blogging post and add your link to the round-up! Thanks!

Monday Mail!

I've been a very lucky cat, recently, and I've received a lot of mail from some of my wonderful friends. A couple of these packages have been for winning or participating in contests, but with my birthday coming up, it's been fun to pretent that they are birthday presents!

First off, I received a wonderful collection of sparkle balls and other ball toys from Junior, for participating in his contest. These toys are so much fun to play with! The sparkle balls are great, and I love the little blue balls that make noise when they roll across the floor. They are a lot of fun to chase! Thank you so much Junior!

Sparkle balls from Junior
Next, I received a fabulous prize pack from Mr. Chen & Ollie for winning their 100th post contest! I was amazed to see that the Temptations made it through customs!!! I guess a package marked "cat toys" wasn't as much interest to them. So now I have finally tried Temptations! They are yummy, just like many of my other treats are yummy! I also have lots of fun playing with the feather flip balls (I love feathers) and with the fishing glove! Thank you so much Mr. Chen & Ollie! What a fabulous prize pack!

Prize Pack from Mr Chen and Ollie
Last, but not least, the wonderful Miss Peach sent me and my mom these beautiful ATC (art trading cards). Miss Peach is very talented, isn't she? Aren't they lovely! The onf of me is a birthday present for me, and the one of the Meezer is for my mom - it's the one who came before me, Whiskers. Thank you so veyr much, Miss Peach! They are beautiful and we love them!

DragonheartSiamese

Thank you very much, Junior, Mr. Chen, Ollie, and Miss Peach! It is wonderful receiving mail from my friends. You are all very generous and I thank you sincerely for these wonderful gifts!

Monday Dare?

Anastasia from The Cat Realm dared everyone to wear her pink wig and post a photo of themselves wearing it. Here is my attempt at wearing the wig.

I think I look better bald, don't you?

Sunday Meme

I was tagged to answer the questions in this meme by Imma (Alice) at I Was Born2Cree8 and Michael of Valtool's Box.

Dragonheart PlayingWhat were you doing 10 years ago?
Since I'm not yet a year old, I wasn't alive 10 years ago! As for my humans, my mom had just graduated at the top of her class with an engineering degree from the University of Guelph (B.Sc.Eng in Biological Engineering) and my dad had just returned from being deployed for the Winnipeg Floods.

What were you doing 1 year ago?
Again, I wasn't born yet! I was still growing in my mommy's tummy. She was very pregnant at this point. As for my humans, they were living in a hotel in Ottawa. All of their household goods had been packed up, and were on their way to Germany. While waiting for their stuff to make it to Munich, they were living in hotels.

Five snacks you enjoy:
  1. Feline Greenies (especially Salmon Flavour)
  2. Katzentabs treats
  3. ZiwiPeak "Good Cat" Lamb Jerky treats
  4. Milk left in the bottom of my humans' cereal bowls (no, it doesn't bother my tummy)
  5. Vanilla ice cream in the bottom of the bowl
Five songs to which you know all the lyrics:

I'm a cat, so I don't know the lyrics to any songs. My humans, however, know the lyrics to a lot of Billy Joel and Beatles songs, and my mom knows a lot of hymns from singing in Church choir.

Dragonheart PlayingFive things you would do if you were a millionaire:
  1. Set up a wonderful no-kill shelter for all the animals that don't have Forever Homes where the animals would be well looked after and cared for.
  2. Buy my human mom a horse.
  3. Buy my human dad all the comic books he wants.
  4. Buy myself a very luxurious cat condo.
  5. Adopt all the Sphynx who don't have wonderful Forever Homes.
Five bad habits:
  1. Waking up my dad too early in the morning, before breakfast time.
  2. Sticking my bum in my humans' faces when they are lying in bed.
  3. Eating crunchies too quickly and then throwing them back up.
  4. Snoring.
  5. Climbing high up on things where I'm not allowed.
Dragonheart PlayingFive things you like doing:
  1. Cuddling
  2. Playing
  3. Purring
  4. Lying in the sun
  5. Eating
Five things you would never wear again:

As a cat, I don't have a lot of clothes. I don't mind wearing clothes, but clothes for dogs and cats are very expensive here in Germany. I do have some sweaters that I like to wear in the winter, when it's cold. Basically, anything that isn't comfortable, or that no longer fits me, is something that I won't ever wear again.

Five favourite toys:
  1. Clear plastic bottle tops off of Gatorade or Powerade bottles.
  2. Whirlybird toy
  3. Red dot (laser pointer)
  4. Wand toys (like the Cat Charmer)
  5. Anything with feathers!
I tag:
  1. Caesar and Princess
  2. Miss Peach
  3. Stella
  4. Kaze
  5. Luxor

About | Theme: Fake | Blogroll

Fake

I'm an indoor-only cat. I have to be, due to my lack of fur, but it's also safer that way. There are too many dangers outside and too great a chance of being seriously injured. So, being an indoor-only cat, I have never seen a real mouse. I do, however, love to play with fake (toy) mousies, especially ones with feather-tails and ones that squeak! So here are two photos of me playing with one of my fake mice.

Frootbat Friday & Rockin' Blogger Award

In these photos, you can really see the sun shining through my ears. My mom thinks I look like an Egyptian cat statue in the first photo.

DragonheartDragonheart(Click either for to view a larger version)

Jazper of Perchance to Dream nominated me for the Rockin' Boy Blogger Award and Connie of Serious Mumbo Jumbo nominated me for the Rockin' Kitty Blogger Award. Thanks to both of them for this award!
Rockin' Boy BloggerHere are my choices for the award:
  • Luxor. Luxor is a good friend who always leaves kind and thoughful comments. He also has the most gorgeous photos on his blog. To top it all off, he has a very cool Egyptian name! (My mom is fascinated by all things related to ancient Egypt.)
  • Jeter Harris. A cat with a great sense of humour who always makes me laugh. He is also very generous and caring.
  • Latte. Latte is a gorgeous Siamese who reminds my mom of the one who came before me, Whiskers. Latte, and his two siblings, Kaze and Chase, are kind, caring, generous cats. They always leave thoughtful comments.
  • Skeezix. Skeezix is the ultimate cat blogger, the one who inspired many of us to begin blogging. He is incredibly generous, helping out those in need with his contests and other events, and his contest prizes are wonderful! Despite his fondness for the colour pink, he is still a Rockin' Boy Blogger.
