Frootbat Friday

(Click photo for a larger image)

Here I am enjoying the sun on my Gizzy quilt. It has been unusually warm here in Munich this past week, with temperatures between 27 and 30°C (80 to 86°F). That may not sound terribly warm, but homes in Germany do not have air conditioning. The Germans claim it is unhealthy. We can't even install a window unit, because they don't exist here in Germany! We can't have anyone send us one, because the power system is different here in Germany, plus the windows are very different - they either open on an angle from the top, tipping inwards, or swing open like a door. The few air conditioning units that are available for purchase have a hose for the vent that needs to go outside. The hose is round and needs to go through a wall. Since we are renting, we are not allowed to cut holes in the wall. Plus, the walls are concrete, so they aren't easy to cut through. Fortunately, because the buildings are made of concrete, they are cooler than your typical North American wood framed building. But still, it's been very hot at night, and we are hoping this heat wave breaks soon! Munich normally doesn't get temperatures in the 30s (Celcius) even in July so this is unusually warm for May.

Oh Dragonheart! Sorry it is so warm for you in Munich right now. I remember how hot it can get in Germany. The Germans call it "Schwuell" when it too humid. But since you don't have any furrrrs you are ahead of the game. Lay on the cool tile bathroom floor or have your beans buy a fan for the house then efurrryone can stay refreshed.
Love Miss Peach....see me bat my eyelashes.
PS: Want to meet me at Marienplatz sometime for some catnip and sardine sandwiches?>(^,^)<

What a great picture of you! Do they have fans there in Germany, at least?

We have what is called a swamp cooler but when it gets really really hot (and it does here), that only helps a little.

Wow, I can't imagine no air conditioning! But it is hot year-round here. You look handsome on your quilt.

What a regal looking pose, Drago. You look very kingly.

Sorry, it's so hot for you though. It's getting cold here, so I have my fluffy winter coat now. Our neighbour, Jane, loves my fluffy coat and is always cuddling me. It's okay, I suppose, but even my summer coat gets hot here during the heat, so I think my companion is going to get me clipped next summer.

Here is where having no fur is a big advantage! I hope you stay nice and cool - but you are always cool!

This climate change is all very confusing. It was 25 here yesterday but Sunday will be 12, with snow expected in Scotland. What's that all about? FAZ

It is furry hot here in London today as well, and of course most houses in the UK don't have air conditioning either. I have been finding it too hot with my long furrs, and lying on the kitchen floor a lot because it is cooler lino instead of carpet.

Your ears look very frootbatty today, and your quilt goes so well with your colouring!

Dragonheart you is so cute!

it was 94 here yesterday - it rarely gets above 90 any day of the year here. the weather is wacky

If you do a Monty Q on a cold floor it'll help cool you off. Keeps the belly nice and cold.

Dear Dragonheart... I bet you wish you liked to swim in a little pool now. We heard on the news (and our gramma reads the overseas news and told us) that it is very warm in Germany. We are so sorry everyone is suffering. Tell your mommie and and daddy to think cool thoughts. We also heard it was very cold in parts of South Africa. and there is a winter storm warning in parts of the U.S.
The weather is very strange!

You look so wonderful on your gizzy quilt. We are going to save your picture and put it in our favorite kittie pictures folder.
Have a happy Friday Dragonheart

Love, C + P

I'm sorry its hot but at least you don't have fur, when I get hot I get really really HOT. What about a portable AC unit? They have a hose that you just put out a window to vent and they roll around on wheels. They sell them everywhere here now...even Circuit City.

Chase

PS- Kaze says you're adorable

No air conditioning! Wisconsin weather is weerd. It gets furry cold in da winter and den it gets reely hot and humid in da summer. Hope yoo find a way to stay cool. This is where not haffing a thick fur coat is advan, edven, avant, er, good.

It sounds quite warm. WE have an old swamp cooler that doesn't require it to be in a window--the hose that you are describing actually vents out the window so you don't have to cut a hole in the wall. Do they have those there?

Oscar the Puppy Cat said...

NO AC?! Oh my goodness, I couldn't handle no ac, even if I'd only be able to use for a handful of days! You sure look sweet on your blanky!

Its much better for the Earth not to have air conditioning, but its not very easy on us! We would have a hard time functioning without it, it often gets over 100 F in July and August here.

With climate change, I suspect warmer temperatures may become more common in Germany. I hope it cools down soon for you.

In our previous facility, we did not have AC ... The best thing you can do is lie in the shade somewhere in your house, and lie on your back with all your legs out. Ask Mom to put a water bowl next to you so you don't have to move. Demand treats, too. You'll get them because she feels sorry for you.

I didn't know that about air conditioning in germany. I wonder why they think it is unhealthy? It has been hot over here too and we are all hoping for a lovely hot bank holiday weekend!

Dragonheart, you look so handsome sitting on that blue Gizzy quilt. Like someone said fans would help and maybe open all the windows. I know we are having a cool spell here in Florida, it's usually close to 90 and humid, today it's 80 and hardly no humidity, so it feels like 76. Go figure.
Be blessed,
Samantha & Tigger

You're looking handsome, as usual, D!

When it gets that hot, does it get humid too? Can your family at least buy a fan there?

Kimo and Sabi said...

Mommakitty recommends getting a big bowl of ice, and placing it behind a fan - voila - a cooler!

That's a bee-yootiful picture of you, Dragonheart! And I'm so sorry it's so hot. I hope that ol' heat wave breaks soon!

That's a nice frootbat picture of you on your quilt. It's been hot here too, but not as hot as Germany. When it is hot we either lie under a tree, or if we are indoors we get in ths bath and stretch out. The tap is always just trickling because we only like running water to drink, so we put our paws under it. That is really nice and cooling.

Oh, Dragonheart, I'm sorry it's so hot, but you look lovely on your quilt. I hope the heat lets up soon.

I'm sorry that it is so hot for you, Dragonheart. The weather is strange. We had to relight the furnace yesterday because it got so cold up here in the mountains of New Mexico. At least you have the advantage of not having a fur coat.

Keep cool Dragonheart! If that heat-wave keeps up much longer, you may change your mind about getting a bath...cool water to play in would be fun!

Oh no! I signed Mr. Linky and we don't have a Frootbat :(

Some of us lie in the sun on the most hot days!
If you lie in the sun in your house do you sunburn? Our goat, Patrick sunburns.
We hope it cools off for you furry soon!!
