Thursday Thirteen: Kaltenberger Ritterturnier

As we mentioned on Monday, our humans spent last Sunday at the Kaltenberger Ritterturnier, the largest Knights' Tournament in modern times. There is an entire Medieval Festival and Market that takes place. Both before and after the actual Tournament itself, there are shows put on at smaller stages throughout the Tournament grounds, featuring jesters, musical groups, dancers, theatre, contortionists, magicians, and many other acts. There is also a Medieval fair, with craftspeople selling all kinds of handmade products, such as wooden and leather goods, medieval clothing, herbs and spices, hand-blown glass, and many other products. There are also stalls offering all kinds of food and drink, such as venison stew, grilled fish, and other traditional foods, along with beer, wine, mead, water and other drinks.

So this week, we bring you 13 (+ a few) photos from the Kaltenberger Ritterturnier

My beans love those too!

(MomBean has a mug from a festival that's older than her relationship with HeBean. It's her favorite!)

Do you think we cats could ride a horse?

Thanks for your comment guys! I do have to add that "attacking" may be a strong word. I think he wants to play, but he just doesn't back down and leave me alone when I am done, or don't want to play. He doesn't draw blood or anything like that...he can just be very bothersome.

Wow that festival looks like a lot of fun. We have one near us that runs every weekend through the summer and into October!

The knights sure do look very brave in their armor and I have never seen a horse sitting down like the one in your picture!

Um....no thanks. If you tried making me gallop with a HUGE stick or put fire next to my delicate head- I'd buck your butt onto the ground so fast you wouldn't know what happened to you.

My beans are drooling! They want to go! They are planing momma's next (daddies first) trip to England to coincide with a huge faire there. There is one in Finland they want to go to and I think this one just made the list of International faires they want to attend!! ~Queen Snickers
